From a young age, Oli knew he wanted to train racehorses.
That dream never wavered - and now, aged 31 years, after a decade of elite global experience, he's opening his own yard at the iconic Bedford House Stables, Newmarket.
His Skill Set and Experience are World Class, having worked with the following trainers over the past 10 years;
Andrew Balding – Pupil Assistant for 1 year
Hughie Morrison – Assistant Trainer for 3 years
Chris Waller – running the Melbourne (Australia) Yard for 1 year
Hugo Palmer – Assistant Trainer for 1 year
Roger Varian – Assistant Trainer for 4 years
From Low Grade Handicappers to Champions and Classic Winners like Charyn; King of Steel; Nature Strip; Verry Elleegant; Eldar Eldarov; Elmalka, Oli knows how to get the best out of every horse.
Alongside his father, renowned tipster Henry Rix, Oli is sourcing horses with data-driven insights. This unique approach will allow him to place horses in races that no other trainer has access to - creating an invaluable competitive advantage
Rix Racing is based in a 20-box barn at Bedford House Stables on Bury Road in Newmarket, rented from fellow trainer Charlie Fellowes. Bedford House is one of the town’s most historic yards, formerly home to Luca Cumani and many top-level winners.
From this base, Oli has full use of Newmarket’s network of turf and all-weather gallops, schooling grounds and starting stalls. The set-up allows him to do proper conditioning work, educate young horses and fine-tune race-fit older horses.
For owners, the location is ideal. It is easy to visit the yard, watch horses work on the gallops and tie in a morning at Rix Racing with an afternoon on the Rowley Mile or July Course.
Newmarket-based new trainer, backed by a decade of experience with Group and Classic horses in Britain and Australia.
Oli combines proper, hands-on horsemanship with a modern, data-driven eye. He has seen first hand what it takes for low-grade handicappers to overachieve and for champions to stay at the top. That experience shapes how he places his horses, how he communicates with owners and how he structures each campaign.
Rix Racing is built on three things: horses treated as individuals, clear communication with owners, and smart race planning that gives every horse a fair shot at improving and winning.
