Bongo Man is a six-year-old British-bred bay gelding by Jack Hobbs out of the Overbury mare Miss Tongabezi. Trained by Billy Aprahamian at The Gallops near Towcester, he brings experience in bumpers, hurdles and over fences, with handicap chasing the next focus of his career. He has twice finished runner-up over hurdles at Huntingdon, most notably when beaten just half a length in a two-mile handicap in March 2026. Having led for much of the race, he was only headed towards the finish. His earlier form also includes a close third in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter, where he finished just two and a half lengths behind the winner. Bongo Man made his chasing debut at Worcester in May 2026 and remains at an early stage of his career over fences. He is still seeking his first win, but his competitive hurdle performances give connections something to build on as he gains further experience in this discipline. Billy and his team plan to campaign him in handicap chases.
