Arcadius is a three-year-old chestnut gelding by Waldgeist out of Annie de Vega, recently acquired by Devon Racing at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale.
He is an exciting new addition to the Devon Racing team and will be trained by Nigel Hawke at Thorn Farm Racing in Devon, with connections planning to introduce him to National Hunt racing through bumpers before progressing to hurdles.
Arcadius brings an appealing pedigree for a horse embarking on a jumping career. His sire, Waldgeist, was a top-class middle-distance performer, best known for winning the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 2019. That combination of stamina and class provides an interesting foundation as Arcadius begins the next stage of his racing career.
Having been acquired as a three-year-old, Arcadius offers shareholders the chance to follow a young horse through a particularly interesting period of development. The move towards bumpers and, eventually, hurdling should give connections the opportunity to assess his strengths as he gains experience.
Nigel Hawke's Devon-based operation provides the training environment for this next chapter, while Devon Racing's syndicate manager Kevin Walls will keep members informed of his progress and future racing plans.
Devon Racing is offering 5% shares at £250 each, with ongoing monthly fees of £180. There are currently 12 shares available, giving new owners the chance to become involved from the beginning of Arcadius's National Hunt campaign.
Members can enjoy regular updates, opportunities to visit the yard and racecourse owners' badge arrangements when available, alongside their contractual entitlement to eligible net prize money and sale proceeds.
With a distinguished sire, a new training arrangement and an intended progression from bumpers to hurdles, Arcadius offers a fresh opportunity for racing enthusiasts to experience racehorse ownership with Devon Racing.
